What it prepares you for
This master’s program will allow you to:
- To know in depth the main theories of knowledge in the history of philosophy, to systematically analyze the possibilities, dimensions and scope of human knowledge and to critically distinguish the relationship between knowledge and reality.
- To acquire an advanced knowledge of the main philosophical interpretations of scientific knowledge and its influence and relevance in Western culture by systematically analyzing the main ontological questions about natural entities.
- To delve into the world of ideas that have moved Western history, as a tool to move with ease in their graduate studies and in their lives and as a key to understanding their own culture.
- To know the different levels of reality – ideal and real – and their mutual implications.
- Acquire an advanced knowledge of the main anthropological theories in the history of Philosophy, as well as the structures, faculties and dimensions of the human being.
- To know the main ethical theories in the history of Philosophy and to know and analyze in a systematic way the moral fact, its elements, its foundation and implications.
- To discover and value the profoundly human dimension of history, culture, society and the person.
- To know and analyze some of the main written works of Western culture, to discover the value of written language, its foundation, structure, elements and implications in connection with the reality of human beings, their values and their existence.
- To offer elements for the understanding of one’s own personal reality, especially in the area of freedom, in order to arouse in the student humanistic reflection and ethical commitment and decision making.
- Acquire a postgraduate methodology, with elements of rigorous thinking, that will allow research in the area of Humanities and provide them with documentary sources and tools.
Who is the target audience?
The master’s program is aimed at these profiles or includes some of the following career paths:
- Access to doctoral programs in the field of humanities.
Practicing teachers who require knowledge of the humanities. - Professions that require an adequate and profound understanding of the person, such as: Business executives, communicators, healthcare professionals in contact with patients (doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, psychologists).
- Professionals in the field of culture interested in its foundations and meaning, such as artists, writers, critics, etc.
- Professionals in the legal and business sciences concerned with the common good, social justice, and solidarity, such as lawyers, jurists, entrepreneurs, economists, and politicians.
